Upon arriving at our PTSD treatment center, patients will undergo a comprehensive evaluation in order for us to gain a better understanding of their unique needs and concerns. Once information is obtained, we will be able to determine the most appropriate level of care that will best meet the presenting needs of the patient while addressing all concerns. At our PTSD treatment center, we have an acute inpatient hospital that has been designed for adolescents aged 11-17, and adults aged 18 and older who are in need of a safe environment in order to find stabilization and recovery. Additionally, we offer residential treatment for adolescents between the ages of 11 and 17. This program is designed specifically to meet the needs of children and adolescents who are struggling with emotional, behavioral, and substance abuse issues.
Through the use of a variety of evidenced-based therapeutic methods, experiential programming options, and the combination of medication management, we can help you or your loved one get the treatment needed for a successful recovery.
Treatment approaches for our acute inpatient program can include:
Medication: There are several types of medication that may be used in the treatment of PTSD that can help improve symptoms. While being treated in our inpatient hospital, you or your loved one will see a provider daily for medication management in order to ensure its effectiveness and to make any changes that may be necessary.
Group therapy: Because our inpatient treatment center is group-focused, we hold various group sessions multiple times each day. Our groups are designed to cover a wide range of topics and some are specifically designed to be more interactive in order to enhance our clients’ functioning levels in certain key areas of their lives that may have been previously ignored as a result of psychiatric conditions or prolonged drug use.
Family therapy: While being treated on an inpatient basis, patients will have at least one family therapy session which will allow them to process through the variety of emotions they are most likely experiencing. Additionally, we will work to open up lines of communication among family members. We also provide educational sessions every Monday night for the family members of patients being treated in our hospital for PTSD.
Treatment approaches for our residential treatment program can include:
Medication: Adolescents who are a part of our residential treatment program will meet with a psychiatrist every two weeks in order to provide medication management. Just like our inpatient program, medication may be used to help control some of the symptoms of the PTSD. All medication decisions will be made by you and your child’s treatment team together.
Daily school: All of the children enrolled in our residential treatment attend school Monday through Friday for at least three hours each day. Our on-site school is fully accredited and offers individualized education plans for each child. Each one of our teachers is certified in special education and will work with each child so that they can catch up on skills, recover lost credits, and graduate on time.
Individual therapy: The patients in our residential treatment center meet with a therapist on a one-to-one basis at least once each week. This time is designed for adolescents to be provided with a confidential environment to process through the experiences they are having throughout the course of treatment and to address any concerns that may arise.
Family therapy: Family therapy sessions are held at a minimum of once every two weeks and is meant to be a time for patients and their family members to come together to explore the treatment process and to address any negative effects that the disorder may have had on the family unit as a whole. Family members of the patients in our residential treatment center are also encouraged to attend the Monday night family education sessions.
Group therapy: Group therapy sessions are held on a daily basis and also include a variety of topics. We have process groups, coping skills groups, goal-setting groups, and substance abuse groups for those who are in the substance abuse program.
Experiential methods: We provide our patients with a number of experiential programming options in addition to the traditional therapeutic methods. These options include:
- Gym
- Daily recreation
- Art
- Talking circles
- Bible studies
